TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2

Depart the US

Our spiritual adventure begins as we depart from the U.S. for our long-awaited destination—Israel!

 

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3

Arrival in Israel

Shalom and Welcome!
  • Arrival into Tel Aviv—You will be met and assisted through customs, introduced to your driver and guide, and transferred to your hotel on the Mediterranean.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4

Caesarea by the Sea

Sites You Will Visit
  • Caesarea—the Roman city where Paul first took the message of the gospel to the Gentiles
  • Caesarea Aqueduct—the ruins of a Roman aqueduct built to supply the ancient city of Caesarea with fresh water
  • Mount Carmel—the mountain on which Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal
  • Megiddo—a strategic city overlooking the gathering place for the armies of Armageddon
  • Nazareth Village—a reenacted first-century Galilean village

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5

Around the Sea of Galilee

Sites You Will Visit
  • Sea of Galilee—a freshwater lake in northern Israel where Jesus spent three years ministering and performing miracles
  • Ancient Galilee Boat—a fishing boat dating back to the 1st century, excavated on the shore of the Sea of Galilee
  • Mount of Beatitudes—the traditional place where Christ delivered his famous speech on the Beatitudes
  • Chorazin—the community Jesus rebuked for their lack of faith
  • Magdala—the hometown of Mary Magdalene and a newly discovered archaeological site
  • Jordan River—the eastern border of Israel and the waters in which John baptized Jesus

Crossing the Sea of Galilee in a replica of a boat from Jesus' time; then, a unique opportunity to be baptized or re-dedicated in the Jordan River.

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6

Northern Israel

Sites You Will Visit
  • Capernaum—the town and synagogue where Jesus preached during his Galilean ministry
  • Ancient Dan—the northernmost city of Israel and the location of Jeroboam's golden calf
  • Banias Waterfall—a spectacular view of the headwaters of the Jordan River
  • Caesarea Philippi—where Peter professed, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."
  • Golan Heights—a view of Paul's route to Damascus and modern-day battlegrounds

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7

Down to the Dead Sea

Sites You Will Visit
  • Mount Arbel—a vista of the Galilee and sites of Jesus' public ministry
  • Spring of Harod—the traditional location where Gideon chose his 300 men for battle
  • Beth She'an—the ruins of a Roman city and the site where the Philistines displayed the bodies of King Saul and his sons
  • Jericho—the first Canaanite city the Israelites conquered in the Promised Land
  • Wadi Qilt—the wilderness where Jesus was tempted by Satan
  • Qumran—the desert caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered

MONDAY, OCTOBER 8

The Judean Wilderness

  • Oasis of Ein Gedi—the waterfall and desert caves where David encountered King Saul
  • Masada—the impenetrable fortress where Jewish zealots made a final stand against Rome
  • Dead Sea—a large salt lake in the wilderness and the lowest point on the face of the earth

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9

Up to Jerusalem

Sites You Will Visit
  • Tel Lachish—a strategic city in the Judean foothills and the location of several important battles
  • Beersheba—the southernmost city of biblical Israel and the occasional home of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
  • Beit Guvrin—a fortified city from the First Temple period and an extensive cavern complex carved beneath the earth
  • Elah Valley—the famous battlefield of David and Goliath
  • Beth Shemesh—where the Philistines returned the Ark of the Covenant to the Israelites
  • Mount Scopus Overlook—a panoramic overlook of Jerusalem with views of the Mount of Olives, the Temple Mount, and the walled city

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10

Israel: Yesterday and Today

  • Mount of Olives—a hill overlooking Jerusalem from the east where Jesus ascended to heaven
  • Dominus Flevit on Palm Sunday Road—a church on the route Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday
  • Garden of Gethsemane—the traditional location where Jesus prayed and was betrayed
  • Model of Jerusalem—a model of Herodian Jerusalem as it looked at the time of Christ
  • Shrine of the Book—the home of Israel's greatest archaeological treasures and the Dead Sea Scrolls
  • Yad Vashem—Israel's memorial to the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11

Jerusalem, O Jerusalem

Sites You Will Visit
  • Temple Mount—where the second Jewish Temple once stood, now home of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque
  • Pool of Bethesda & St. Anne's Church—the pool where Jesus healed an infirmed man
  • Upper Room—the traditional location of the Last Supper
  • Zion Gate—a bullet-riddled gate to the Old City which stands as a testament to the modern struggle of the Israeli people of Siloam and Hezekiah's Tunnel
  • Hezekiah's City Wall—built by King Hezekiah to prepare for the Assyrian invasion
  • Southern Temple Steps—part of an extensive excavation program which has unearthed the main steps leading up to the Temple Mount complex
  • City of David Excavations—the original site of King David's capital of Israel, including the Pool of Siloam and Hezekiah's Tunnel

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12

The Passion of the Christ

Sites You Will Visit
  • Western "Wailing" Wall—a section of the Temple Mount foundation dating back to the 2nd Temple Period and the most sacred Jewish site in Jerusalem
  • Rabbinical Tunnel—an underground excavation project which has exposed the full length of the Western Wall
  • Antonia Fortress—the traditional location where Jesus was beaten and mocked with a crown of thorns
  • Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher—the "way of the cross" leading to the traditional site of Jesus' crucifixion
  • Bethlehem Overlook—the serene hillside of Bethlehem where shepherds tend their flock.
  • Herodium—a fortress built by Herod the Great which later became his burial site
  • Gordon's Calvary & the Garden Tomb—an ancient tomb similar to the one in which Christ was buried

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

TOUR PRICES

Tour prices are based on costs, charges, taxes, and US dollar exchange rates known at the time of booking. We regret should any of these costs change, a surcharge may be added to the cost of your tour. You would be notified prior to travel.

INSURANCE

Baggage, trip cancellation, and emergency medical insurance is strongly recommended. Information will be provided upon registration. Important: The exclusion of pre-existing conditions is waived provided the premium is received no later than twenty-one days after the initial deposit of your trip.

CANCELLATIONS 

All cancellation notices must be received in writing. Tours are non-transferable.

PASSPORTS 

You must have a valid passport with expiration not less than 6 months after your return to the US. IT takes about eight to twelve weeks to secure a passport, so don't delay. Non-US passport holders must contact Morning Star Tours to confirm need for visa. Passport information, along with applications, can be obtained on the web by going to http://www.travel.state.gov.

PHOTOGRAPHY

By registering for this tour, I/we give Morning Star Tours permission to use and publish photographs in which I/we may be included for the use of promotion, print, editorial, advertising, or other related purposes. I release Morning Star Tours from all claims and liability relating to said photographs.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE

Due to bus size and included porterage, we can only allow one checked bag, not to exceed 62 inches (length plus width plus depth) and 50 lbs. You may also bring one small carry-on item. Please also consult your airline's international baggage regulations as restrictions often vary by airline and can change without notice.

NOT INCLUDED IN TOUR COST 

Round-trip transatlantic airfare; lunches nor specifically mentioned; beverages; personal expenses (passport fees, visas for non-US citizens, travel insurance, laundry, phone calls etc.); single room occupancy; airport/hotel transportation not specifically mentioned; other services not specifically mentioned.

They assume no responsibility or liability in connection with the services of any train, carriage, automobile, airplane or other conveyance that will be used either wholly or in part. The airlines and/or other transportation companies concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time the passengers are not aboard their plane or conveyance. The passage contract, as issued by the airlines or other transportation companies involved with the tour, shall constitute the sole contract between the purchaser and the airlines or transportation companies, and limit the responsibilities of the tour sponsors concerning the related travel and accommodations.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN SHOULD I PURCHASE AIRLINE TICKETS?

Morning Star Tours recommends waiting to purchase your airfare until the minimum number of guests have registered for this tour. This is in order to avoid penalties and fees imposed by the airlines should changes occur. Morning Star Tours will notify you once this number has been reached and are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding airfare.

WHAT IS THE BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE?

For international flights, you are generally allowed one checked bag and one carry-on at no additional cost, with the following parameters: up to 50 pounds and 62 inches (L+W+D) for checked bag and up to 40 pounds and 45 inches (L+W+D) for carry-on. Baggage restrictions often vary by airline. It is important to refer to the airline's international baggage regulations prior to packing, as these can change without notice.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE INTO TEL AVIV?

Please plan to depart the US on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, and arrive into Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

WHEN SHOULD I DEPART FROM TEL AVIV?

Please plan to depart from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) on Friday, October 12, 2018 after 10:00 PM, or the morning of Saturday, October 13, 2018 (Hotel overnight on October 12, 2018 is included in tour cost).

CAN I USE FREQUENT FLYER MILES TO PURCHASE MY AIRLINE TICKET?

Yes; however, due to airline contract restrictions, MST cannot purchase these tickets for you. Please see Tel Aviv arrival and departure information.

CAN MORNING STAR TOURS HELP ME WITH MY FLIGHTS?

ARE ALL GRATUITIES INCLUDED?

Yes! A generous tip to guides, drivers, hotel staff, and those serving you at applicable sites is included in your tour cost. We pray that this provision is a blessing and a testimony to those who serve you in The Land.

WHAT OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES SHOULD I EXPECT?

Please plan to bring spending money for lunches (about $20–30 per day), sodas, bottled water, and personal expenses such as souvenirs, laundry, or room service.

SHOULD I BRING MY YOUNG CHILDREN ON THE TOUR?

Young children may find the pace of the tour to be too rigorous and may find the time on the tour bus and quiet times of teaching challenging. We recommend that guests be age 13 or above.

HOW MUCH WALKING WILL WE BE DOING?

You will average three to five miles of walking per day on your tour. This walking is done in small increments throughout the day and you will have frequent opportunities to rest if needed. To prepare yourself, start walking a little each day. We recommend properly breaking in any shoes you plan to wear while touring.
