Grand River Solutions Recommendations

Dear Moody Family,

On behalf of the trustees, administration, faculty, and staff, we apologize to those members of our Moody community who experienced a lack of empathy and follow-through with respect to their Title IX reports. We also apologize to those whose reports were not processed as rapidly and efficiently as they could have been. It is the sincere desire of the leadership at Moody to provide a healthy, God-honoring culture that allows our students to grow and mature in a safe and wholesome environment. We commit to doing everything we can moving forward to create a safe environment for all of our students, staff, and faculty.

We appreciate the courage of our students and alumni, both women and men, who came forward with their stories, and for their vulnerability in sharing their difficult and sometimes painful experiences. Based on Grand River Solutions’ extensive recommendations for changes to Moody’s current policies and practices in several areas, including and also beyond Title IX, our consideration of lessons learned from the review of the individual cases, interviews with key personnel, and a review of current policies, we have developed 11 strategic commitments that will be fully operational by the beginning of the fall 2021 term. We are releasing these strategic commitments to our community today, while we complete a detailed operational plan.

As you read the recommendations from Grand River Solutions on our Title IX web page, and as you review our strategic commitments, we ask that you pray for us and help hold us accountable to follow through on our strategic commitments.

Prayerfully,
