Moody Spring 2021 Commencement Ceremonies
On Monday, Oct. 31 Moody Bible Institute President Paul Nyquist announced the unanimous approval by the board of trustees for the appointment of Elizabeth Brown to vice president and general counsel. Brown, currently assistant general counsel, brings 40 years of experience to this position.
“It was abundantly clear that Elizabeth is uniquely qualified to serve as general counsel,” said Nyquist. “I am thrilled she will be using her considerable expertise and her deep love of Moody to provide leadership to our legal department.”
As general counsel, Brown will oversee all of the legal matters of the organization, including contracts, regulatory compliance, employment matters, corporate governance, real estate, litigation, as well as providing management with a legal perspective on all aspects of Moody’s ministries. In addition, Brown will continue to provide support for Moody’s planned giving function. She will also lead the legal department and serve as a member of the executive leadership team.
“After nearly 29 years of service at Moody, I had planned to retire at the end of this year. But God had other plans, and I am delighted to be able to serve Him and the Institute in this way, continuing the legacy which my father began in 1952 when he joined the music faculty here,” said Brown. “With God’s help and guidance, I will seek to be an effective legal adviser, helping Moody to carry out its ministries and further God’s kingdom.”
Brown’s new position will be effective Nov. 1, 2011. Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from North Park University and her Juris Doctor (JD) from The University of Chicago Law School.
