Executive director of admissions and financial aid at Moody Bible Institute, Dr. Heather Shalley, has been promoted to the position of vice president and dean of student enrollment services.

“Dr. Shalley is an experienced educational professional who brings to this position strong organizational skills and an extensive background in leveraging financial aid into enrollment management,” said Dr. John Jelinek, interim provost for Moody Bible Institute. “With her collaborative and visionary leadership skills she will help Moody across the challenging terrain of an ever-changing enrollment environment. She is committed to Moody’s mission and articulating its value and relevancy so I am excited for the future of our educational ministries under her leadership.”

Her appointment is effective June 1, and comes after having served as the interim vice president and dean of student enrollment services since January 2019 when Dr. Tony Turner who previously held the position departed. Throughout her 13 years of enrollment-oriented service experience in higher education, she has served in a variety of roles. Previous to coming to Moody in 2013 as associate director of financial aid, Dr. Shalley served in several financial aid roles at Pennsylvania-based Valley Forge Military Academy and College, and Valley Forge Christian College.

“I am humbled and excited to be leading an amazing team that believes the challenges are real, but the future is bright,” said Dr. Shalley. “Being raised on the mission field has given me a special appreciation for the incredible legacy and mission of Moody Bible Institute, as well as an intimate understanding of the passion our students have for ministry. I look forward to helping us expand our student body and equip them to make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.”

In her new role, she will be responsible for the recruitment, marketing, student retention, and overall enrollment processes of Moody’s undergraduate school and seminary. Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Career Development, Education Marketing, Customer Relations Marketing, and Moody Central will report into Dr. Shalley.

Dr. Shalley received a Doctorate of Education and a Master of Science in Education from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minn. In addition, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. Throughout her career she has sat on professional development training committees for the Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators in Pennsylvania and Illinois.

She and her husband have been married for 19 years and live in Northwest Indiana, where they are active members of a local church. Starting in her teenage years, she continues to serve in the area of children’s ministry such as Sunday School and VBS.
