March 13 Moody Student COVID-19 Update

Dear Chicago campus students,

As you have recently been informed by a previous email from Dr. Jobe regarding COVID-19 and its impact on Moody Bible Institute, Moody’s Chicago campus will be transitioning from a campus-based learning environment to an online venue for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester. We have also had to make a difficult decision regarding our on-campus resident population. As we have made this decision, we understand that this may be challenging and hard in a number of different ways for all of our students.

As stated in the previous email, “Chicago students will be expected to move out of their residence hall with exceptions.” This email serves to communicate more clearly how we will coordinate the move out process.

Below you will find vital information about our expectations during these next couple weeks, moving forward. Please read them thoroughly.

  • It is our expectation for students who have a Spring housing assignment on campus to depart campus housing for the rest of the semester by March 29th.
  • In order to stay on campus for the rest of the Spring semester (March 30 - May 15), you must meet one of the following criteria (married, single graduate, international students, MK’s, or approved on-campus employment).
  • If you meet the above criteria to remain in on-campus housing, you must complete the form located on by Wednesday, March 18th. If you have extenuating circumstances in which departing from campus causes an undue hardship, we encourage you to fill out the form above, for a review by Student Development on a case by case basis. If you do not complete this form by the due date, it is assumed you will depart campus by March 29th.

  • International students must continue to make normal progress in a full course of study as required by federal regulations. During these exceptional circumstances related to COVID-19, international students are allowed to participate in the online adaptions that Moody will offer without risking their immigration status.
  • Should you plan on moving from your current residence or leaving the country, you must contact ISO immediately.
  • Regulations regarding work on campus remain the same. F-1 visa holders are limited to 20 hours per week during the semester, regardless if classes are online. Per federal regulations, students are not allowed to work off campus. Please feel free to reach out to the Brenda Cuellar at the International Student Office with any questions. (
