Illinois MAP Grant Funds Now Available to Illinois Resident Students

Starting with the Fall 2025 semester, eligible on-campus and online Illinois resident undergraduate school students at The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago will now be able to apply for the Illinois MAP Grant.
“By God’s grace, ministry partners of Moody for 139 years have given generously so that undergraduate school students in Chicago can receive a tuition-paid, biblically-based education with minimized financial burden,” said Dr. William Washington, Moody’s vice president of Student Life and Enrollment. "The Illinois MAP Grant is one more useful resource that eligible students from Illinois can utilize to help reduce their mandatory fees.”
Illinois MAP grants, which are funds made available by Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) to eligible Illinois residents who attend approved Illinois colleges such as Moody, do not need to be repaid. Financial need is based on the information provided by Illinois resident students on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Starting with the Fall 2025 semester, Illinois resident students who are eligible and receive an Illinois MAP Grant from ISAC will be able to apply these funds to their semester bills. To be eligible, students must be a resident of Illinois, and if a dependent, their parent(s) or guardian(s) must be residents as well. The Illinois MAP Grant is awarded to students with a Student Aid Index of less than 9,000.
“We are excited that our Illinois undergraduate students have this opportunity to help reduce their personal educational costs so they can leave Moody and launch into God’s calling without the burden of education debt, which impacts so many students around the country,” added Dr. Washington. “I encourage our incoming and current students to fill out the FAFSA® as soon as possible so they can learn what resources might be available to them.”
According to ISAC, here are several helpful points which Illinois undergraduate students should keep in mind.
- Available to Illinois residents only. If you are a dependent of your parents, they need to be Illinois residents as well.
- Undergraduates without a bachelor’s or professional degree are eligible.
- This grant is for students with a Student Aid Index of less than 9,000.
- The maximum awards for 2025–2026 can vary from $300 to $8,064.
- Awards will be prorated for students with less than 15 credit hours per semester.
- If you are enrolled in less than 15 credit hours, the amount you actually receive will be based on the number of hours in which you are enrolled.
- Grants may be limited based on FAFSA application date, number of applicants, and funding levels appropriated by the Illinois General Assembly.
- Students are not eligible who have accumulated 135 MAP Eligibility Units (one credit hour is equivalent to one MAP eligibility unit.)
When undergraduate students complete the FAFSA, they are automatically considered for Illinois MAP Grant funds. Please note that Illinois MAP Grant award calculations will be done only for those Illinois students who list a MAP-eligible school, such as Moody Bible Institutes, as one of their school choices on the FAFSA form.
