Two Ministry Conferences in Chicago

Women’s ministry and children’s ministry will be the focus of two Moody conferences in April

This coming April, Moody Bible Institute will be hosting two conferences, one geared toward equipping women and the other those who minister to children.

Called Conference

Called: Equipping Women to Live Out His Call (April 1)

Called will take place on April 1 at the Chicago campus. It is being coordinated by Dr. Pamela MacRae, professor of Pastoral Studies at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.

“We will train women theologically to understand their call,” said Dr. MacRae, “and be biblically established in the roles God has placed them.”

The conference will feature dynamic teaching from women leaders such as Dr. MacRae, Jamell Meeks from Salem Baptist Church in Chicago, Christy Spader from Cru, and others. Called will also feature practical workshops and a Q&A panel for those in attendance to cultivate and steward their calling as a woman in ministry leadership.

NEXT Children's Ministry Conference

Next Children’s Ministry Conference (April 22)

Moody’s fourth annual Next Children’s Ministry Conference is organized by the seniors in Moody Bible Institute’s Children’s Ministry major.

This year’s theme, From Inclusion to Belonging: Everyone has a Seat at the Table is inspired by Luke 14, in which Christ declares there is a blessing to the community that actively welcomes people with disabilities. The focus of this year’s conference is aimed at embracing children of all abilities and their families, and fostering a church community in which everyone can contribute.

“Everyone belongs in the body of Christ and that’s what this conference is about,” said Elizabeth Smith, associate professor and program head of the Children’s Ministry Major at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, who is overseeing the conference. “We don’t do ministry at or to people with disabilities. We want them to come to the body of Christ and contribute. We need to shift our conversation from mere inclusion to belonging and to rethink how we do ministry so people of all abilities are contributing members of the church community.”

Next Children’s Ministry Conference will take place at Moody in Chicago on April 22. Some of the highlights this year will be worship, breakout sessions, a lunch parent panel, and keynote speaker author Emily Colson. Vendor booths open until 4 p.m.
