Moody Spring 2021 Commencement Ceremonies
Three students were presented with a 2012 Jerry B. Jenkins Writer Award on Thursday, Feb. 9, at Moody Bible Institute’s annual Founder's Week. They were honored for their outstanding non-fiction narrative about God’s faithfulness.
First place went to Jared Klopfenstein, sophomore biblical languages emphasis, for his essay "Be Still." Melody Jones, sophomore linguistics/biblical languages emphasis, won second place for her essay “An Anthem of Faithfulness." Third place was awarded to Fiona Haggerty, biblical languages emphasis, for her essay "A Living Church."
The contest was created in 1999 to honor Jerry B. Jenkins’ legacy at Moody Bible Institute. He has served as an editor with MOODY Magazine, vice president for Moody's publishing division and writer-at-large for the Institute. Jenkins currently serves as the chairman of the Board of Trustees.
"More than 70 students wrote about God's faithfulness, and it was wonderful to see so many of them recognize a faithful God in the midst of great heartache and great joy," said Karyn Hecht, advising faculty member for the contest and professor in the communications department. "They are excellent writers."
