Moody Distance Learning Opens Extension Site in Dallas
Moody Distance Learning has announced the opening of their new extension site at Southern Bible Institute in Dallas, Texas. The site allows students in the Dallas area to take extension courses from Moody and enables Southern Bible Institute students to receive a Bachelor of Science in Ministry Leadership degree without leaving Southern.
"This partnership will allow students to have a regionally-accredited degree while gaining a world-class biblically-centered education from both institutions," said Dr. Junias Venugopal, provost and dean of education at Moody. "I am honored to join Dr. Martin Hawkins, president of the Southern Bible Institute, in renewing our historical relationship by announcing this joint partnership between our two schools."
The historical ties between the two institutions began in 1888 when Dr. H. A. Ironside heard D. L. Moody preach and, at age 12, prayed, "Lord, help me someday to preach to crowds like these, and to lead souls to Christ." Dr. Ironside served as Chairman when Southern Bible Institute (originally named Dallas Colored Bible Institute) was founded in 1924.
