Chicago Campus Real Estate Update

12 October, 2020

Dear Moody Family,

I have additional news to share with you as we continue to move forward with our Chicago campus redevelopment initiative. This is a pivotal time in our history, as we secure resources needed to build toward our 2030 vision of doubling Moody’s impact for the Kingdom.

In July 2020, we announced that JDL Development is purchasing eight “non-core” acres of our Chicago campus real estate portfolio, with plans to develop residential and business office space.

The remaining parcels of land for sale are Jenkins Hall, and a smaller building located at 315 W. Walton Street. I am happy to report that we now have sold the 315 W. Walton building. Since 2006, this building was used by a non-profit organization providing tutoring for at-risk high school students. We understand that the building will be renovated and used as the new headquarters of Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture (HPA), a Chicago-based architecture, planning, and interior design firm. Since HPA works closely with JDL Development, they are particularly excited about this location, and we look forward to having them as our neighbors!

In addition to praising God for this provision of a buyer, continue to pray as we work through the sale process with a separate buyer for Jenkins Hall – which we will continue to use for student housing for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semester. Following a closing, a future buyer will maintain the building and continue to serve our Section 8 Morningside South residents who will remain in the building.

We will keep you updated.

Your servant,

Mark
