Today, Moody Bible Institute launched its first mobile app for Today In The Word, providing global access to the devotional’s daily teaching and encouragement for digital users across the globe via iOS and Android platforms.

“There is no greater message than the gospel, and what a timely moment to share it with people who need hope,” explained Dr. Mark Jobe, president of Moody Bible Institute. The expansion of Today In The Word through the app will equip significantly more believers from all across the globe to grow in their walk with Jesus, and share biblically-based devotional content with others digitally. “We are living in unprecedented times and people are more open to the gospel message,” he added. “We do not want to miss this opportunity to point them to the One who is our sustainer and hope in times of peace and crisis, King Jesus.”

The iOS and Android app provides users with access to daily encouragement and biblical nourishment with studies pulled straight from Scripture. The app also offers a number of special features, including:

  • Easy-to-read, biblically-based devotionals
  • New monthly themes
  • Audio recording of each day’s devotional
  • Access to several Bible translations
  • Sermon note-taking section
  • Beautiful, sharable verse graphics
  • Daily reading tracker

Leading up to today’s app launch, Today In The Word redesigned the hard-copy magazine at the beginning of 2020 to provide a better reading and user experience for its 200,000 readers. The devotional is available in a variety of formats, including: magazine, email, web, podcast, and now the app. The app was a natural next step for Moody, with a desire to provide this resource to an even larger, global audience in the digital space.

The popular devotional, which began more than 30 years ago, premiered its February edition at Founder’s Week in 1988. Each year’s editorial content includes studies from the Old and New testaments, as well as character or topical studies. It is written by Moody Bible Institute’s world-class professors. Their contribution includes the daily reading, theological columns, and a question-and-answer section that addresses readers’ most puzzling Bible questions.

The free Today In The Word app can be downloaded to an Apple (iOS) or Android mobile device.
