Moody Radio Expands to South Carolina

WCDC in Charleston, S.C., is broadcasting from 107.7 FM and AM-950

Moody Radio announced today its newest station, WCDC in Charleston, S.C., is on the air and broadcasting via 107.7 FM and AM-950.

“Moody Radio is always looking for opportunities to expand our reach and bring programming to new markets, and this is an area of the country where we’ve never had a signal,” said Doug Hastings, vice president of Moody Radio. Moody Radio is one of the oldest Christian radio networks in the U.S., having aired its first broadcast in 1926 in Chicago. Respected as an industry leader and a trusted voice for more than a million listeners each week, Moody Radio has grown to include more than 70 stations, six Internet stations and more than 1,500 affiliates that carry its programming.

Hastings added, “Our focus is to equip people with the truth of God's Word, and help them take their next step in their spiritual journey with Jesus Christ. We believe the great city of Charleston is a terrific fit for us where listeners will connect with and embrace Moody Radio programming.”

Founded in 1670, Charleston is located on Charleston Harbor which is an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a population of almost 135,000 and is the oldest and largest city in South Carolina. (Courtesy of Explore Charleston,

Moody Radio closed on the purchase of the broadcast licenses for AM-950 and FM translator 107.7 on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018. Moody Radio Charleston’s reach extends as far west as Saint Matthews, and covers most of South Carolina’s eastern seaboard, from Georgetown in the north to Hilton Head Island in the south.

Original Moody Radio-produced programming including Solomon and Dawn morning show, as well as interactive talk programs Equipped with Chris Brooks, Chris Fabry Live, Money Wise Live, and In the Market with Janet Parshall are part of the Moody Radio Charleston lineup. Well known syndicated programs including Turning Point with Dr. David Jeremiah, Revive Our Hearts with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, and Summit Life with J. D. Greear are also featured.

“With this historic expansion into Charleston, we wanted to take an opportunity to honor longtime Moody Radio pastor C. Donald Cole by choosing the station call letters, WCDC,” added Hastings. Pastor Cole went home to be with the Lord in 2012, after complications of Parkinson’s disease at the age of 89.

Before serving as Moody Radio pastor, Don and his wife, Naomi, along with their three children were missionaries in Angola, Africa, for 18 years. Looking for someone to communicate the foundational truths of God’s Word in a personable, understandable way, Moody Radio invited Cole to step in as radio pastor for Robert J. Little who was retiring after 17 years of service. Cole’s gentle, honest manner during Open Line, a Bible question-and-answer broadcast that he hosted from 1982–2008, proved to be a source of hope for many listeners.

Pastor Don Cole was inducted in the National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2006. He also authored multiple books, including How to Know You’re Saved and All You Need to Believe: The Apostles’ Creed with Moody Publishers.

“Pastor Cole’s life and ministry left an indelible mark on this world for the gospel and we are overjoyed by the opportunity to honor this faithful servant of the Lord through Moody Radio Charleston,” Hastings concluded.
