Longtime pastor, author, and nationally known Bible speaker, Dr. Crawford Loritts, will teach courses as a visiting professor for the Winter and Spring 2022 sessions at Moody Theological Seminary.

The sought-after Bible teacher, who is also the host of Moody Radio’s Living a Legacy program, and the author of several Moody Publishers resources, will teach two courses, each three credit hours, in the coming months with an emphasis on leadership and biblical preaching in the 21st century.

Loritts, who has spoken at many Moody Bible Institute events throughout the years, including Pastors’ Conference and Founder’s Week, will share insights from his experience in pastoral ministry and leadership training.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Loritts join our distinguished faculty as a visiting professor to share from his nearly 50 years of ministry experience in pastoring, preaching, and teaching God’s Word,” said Dr. Winfred Neely, vice president and dean of Moody Theological Seminary. “We want to raise up the next generation of leaders who love God, love people, and love God’s Word. Our hope is that they will learn how to rightly handle, teach, and live out the gospel in this present day so it will transform their lives and communities.”

Courses will be offered in-person and through online options to encourage group learning and discussion. These courses will be offered without the weight of a credited degree program, so interested students have more flexibility than a traditional college-level course.

In this first course, Essentials for Excellence in Ministry Leadership, Dr. Loritts will teach on what it takes to be an effective ministry leader in turbulent, cultural moments. He will teach students how to build a foundation of leadership, study methods for personal and spiritual growth, and take an in-depth look at the qualities necessary for effective leadership. This course will be taught through Moody Theological Seminary on Moody’s Plymouth, Michigan campus or live via Zoom evenings January 3 – 7, 2022, from 6:00 - 8:50 p.m. EST / 5:00 - 7:50 p.m. CST.

In the second course, Communication of Biblical Truth, Dr. Loritts will teach an introduction to the structures and methods used in preparing expositional messages. The course will also include a consideration of the exegetical process that leads to the development of a homiletical idea. It will be offered through Moody Theological Seminary on Moody’s Chicago campus or live via Zoom mornings March 7 – 11, 2022, from 9:00 - 11:50 a.m. CST / 10:00 a.m. - 12:50 p.m. EST.

“For more than 25 years I have enjoyed a rich, wonderful partnership with Moody Bible Institute,” said Dr. Loritts. “We share a common passion for the fulfillment of the Great Commission and for training and encouraging the next generation of servant leaders for the Cause of Christ. That's why I am thrilled to join the team at the Moody Theological Seminary as Visting Professor of Leadership and Biblical Preaching.”

The two class sessions will take place on January 3 – 7, 2022 (Plymouth campus) and March 7 – 11, 2022 (Chicago campus). January J-Term registration deadline is December 1, 2021. March Modular application deadline is January 7, 2022.
